BOISE, Idaho - Coming out of the ECHL All-Star break, Idaho is 0-2, and has fallen to second place in the Pacific Division. With the two losses in Alaska this past weekend (Friday L3-2 and Saturday L5-1), the Steelheads (25-13-4, 54 points) begin this week one point behind the first place San Diego San Diego Gulls (26-10-3, 55 points). Idaho will take on the Gulls in San Diego on Friday, January 30th.

RECORD

Idaho is 25-13-4, 54 points (home record 15-4-2, and road record 10-9-2). Idaho is 5-2-3 in its last 10 games; and its current streak is 0-2-1.

GAME RECAPS:

1/23/04: IDAHO 2 @ ALASKA 3

ANCHORAGE, Alaska (Ticker) -- Mark Smith had a pair of goals and an assist to lead the Alaska Aces over the Idaho Steelheads, 3-2. Smith collected a shorthanded goal late in the first period, tied the score at 2-2 with 6:43 left in the second and helped out on a goal by Chris Lipsett 9:56 into the third. It was the first game-winning goal of the season for Lipsett, who also had an assist in the triumph. Dan Murphy had 20 saves for Alaska, which broke a four-game losing streak. Miguel Delisle and Jan Kopecky both scored in the first period for Idaho, which had been undefeated in regulation over its last eight games (5-0-3). Blair Allison finished with 25 saves in the loss.

1/24/04: IDAHO 1 @ ALASKA 5

ANCHORAGE, Alaska (Ticker) -- Mike Lee recorded a goal and an assist to lead the Alaska Aces to a 5-1 victory over the Idaho Steelheads. Lee, who set up Jordan Cameron's goal midway through the first period, snapped a 1-1 tie with 11:33 left in the second. Mark Smith and Mike Scott also produced a goal and an assist apiece for Alaska, which has beaten Idaho in back-to-back games on the heels of a four-game losing skid. Dan Murphy made 20 saves to improve to 17-10-3. Derek Paget scored for the Steelheads, who have dropped consecutive road games for the first time since December 12-13. Blair Allison stopped 26 shots in the loss.

TOP OF THEIR LEAGUE: Forward Miguel Delisle leads rookies in power play goals with 10 (second overall), and is second for rookies in shooting percentage scoring 12 in 57 shots (.211%). ECHL All-Star defenseman David Cornacchia is tenth in the league overall in scoring amongst defensemen with 5 goals and 24 assists, 29 points...Cornacchia was returned to Idaho from its AHL affiliate Utah Grizzlies on January 24th after being recalled on January 14th. Team captain and defenseman Jeremy Mylymok holds the season-high for consecutive penalties on the road, having tallied 48 minutes in the box in 11 successive games...on the season Mylymok has 95 penalty minutes and is second on the team behind forward Lance Galbraith who has accumulated 195 penalty minutes.

GONE FISHIN': Idaho is sporting the worst (31st) "shorthanded goals against" in the league allowing its opponents to score 11 times. Idaho is ranked 28th in "shorthanded goals for" having scored two (01/10/04 @ BAK, and 11/19/03 vs ASK) this season.

IN THE NET: Blair Allison has been Idaho's starter in its last five games is 1-2-2 those five starts. On the season, Allison is12-5-3, with a 2.52 goals against average and .905 save percentage. Goaltender Dan Ellis, currently in AHL Utah, is 13-8-1, with a 2.56 goals against average and a .909 save percentage.
