Scott called up to AHL
January 26, 2004 - ECHL (ECHL)
Alaska Aces News Release
ANCHORAGE, Alaska â Mike Scott has become the second member of the Alaska Aces to be loaned to an American Hockey League team in the last two weeks.
Scott flew to Providence, Rhode Island, early Monday morning, and will make his AHL debut for the Bruins Wednesday night against the Hershey Bears in Hershey, Pa. Providence serves as the AHL affiliate for the Boston Bruins of the National Hockey League. The 26-year-old Scott leads Alaska with 19 goals and ranks second with 41 points in 41 games this season. The Calgary, Alberta native also places second on the team with 150 minutes in penalties and third with a +12 rating. He had a goal and three assists last weekend as the Aces swept the Idaho Steelheads, who had been leading the Pacific Division. Scott, who was named ECHL Rookie of the Month in February 2003 on his way to a 67-point season for Mississippi last year, should be in the Providence lineup for a Friday tilt at Norfolk and a Saturday rematch with Hershey.
Scott's linemate, Mark Smith, was called up to San Antonio in the AHL January 12, and had an assist and a +1 rating in the two games he played for the Rampage. The two players are the first active members of the Aces to earn promotions to the AHL in team history.
Alaska players will be attending a screening of the new Disney movie "Miracle" Tuesday night at 7:30 p.m. Select members of the club will be appearing at Westchester Lagoon Saturday from 2:00-3:00 p.m.
Alaska (24-14-3 overall) does not play until Friday, February 6, in the opener of a three-game series at Sullivan Arena against the Las Vegas Wranglers, continuing Saturday and Sunday, with game times set for 7:00 p.m. The Aces remain in fourth place in the tightly packed Pacific Division, where the top four teams are separated by just four points in the standings. Alaska Aces games are broadcast live on KFQD 750 AM and at www.alaskaaces.com, with Jack Michaels calling the play-by-play. Coverage begins 20 minutes prior to the opening face-off, presented by GCI.
