Toledo Walleye News Release
- Kris Waltze made his return to the Toledo Storm line up Friday night in Cincinnati and made it count. Waltze scored his first goal of the season and also collected 27 penalty minutes.
- Doug Teskey made his twenty-fifth consecutive start Sunday against Johnstown. Doug is 9-12-3 in those games.
- Jim Abbott netted his first goal with the Toledo Storm Saturday night. Overall, Abbott has 20 goals and 15 assists. The 20 goals and 35 points currently lead the Storm in both categories.
- On Saturday night, Nick Parillo registered two points (1-1). It was the eleventh multiple game for Nick, which ties him with Alexandre Jacques for the team lead. Parillo's 21 assists also lead the Storm.
- Peter Flache scored his first goal with Toledo Sunday against Johnstown. Peter has appeared in 9 games collecting 1 goal and adding 3 assists.
- Landon Bathe scored the Storm's first goal in Sunday's contest against the Chiefs. It was the first goal of the season for Landon, who waited patiently through 29 games to get that first one.
- As a result of Sunday's loss to the Chiefs, Toledo continues to be winless on Sunday. Toledo is 0-7-1 in Sunday contests.
- Toledo continues to be strong in one-goal games this season (9-3-4).
- Saturday night the Wheeling Nailers ended Toledo's 5 game power play goal streak. Toledo now has 23 power play goals in 188 attempts (12.2%). Toledo is ranked 27th in the ECHL.
- The Storm penalty kill unit has gone seven straight games without allowing a power play goal (25-25). Toledo penalty kill unit is ranked 11th in the ECHL, killing off 171 of 200 chances against.
- Toledo is 8-10-1 at home this season and 9-10-3 on the road.
- The Storm is home this Friday and Saturday night against the Roanoke Express. Sunday Toledo will be in Peoria.
- The Toledo Storm coaches show will be back in action this Wednesday night at 8pm in the Downtown Frickers.
STORM PLAYER OF THE WEEK NOMINATION:
Kris Waltze (1 goal - 2 assist = 3 points - 34 pims)
Kris returned to the Toledo Storm roster on Friday and did so with a bang. Not only did he score the first goal of the hockey game, but the first goal for Kris this season. Waltze did not stop there as he ended the game with a player season high 27 penalty minutes. Kris added two assists over the next two nights and is currently on a three game point streak.
STORM GOALTENDER OF THE WEEK NOMINATION:
Doug Teskey (1-2-0, 4.35 gaa, 0.865 save%)
Doug ran his consecutive starts streak to twenty-five over the three game weekend. Teskey was especially sharp in the third period Friday night when he helped the Storm hold on to a 3-2 win in Cincinnati.
