Beaumont, TX (January 26, 2004) â The Texas Wildcatters' struggles against the Louisiana IceGators continued as they lost both games of a home and home series over the weekend. On Friday, the Wildcatters hosted the IceGators for the third consecutive game at Ford Arena, falling 5-1. Brad Fraser scored the Wildcatters only goal of the night at the 5:57 mark of the final stanza as he recorded his fourth of the season. Rob Guinn and Rae Metz assisted on the power-play goal. For the second straight game, Davis Parley faced 50 Louisiana shots.
On Saturday, the Wildcatters were shutout 4-0 in the final game of four straight against the IceGators. Louisiana took the lead in the first period on a power-play goal by Konstantin Kalmikov, who scored two goals in the game. The rough play from last weekend returned as Clint Cabana and Jason Hamilton squared off for the fourth time in nine days and John Campbell mixed it up with IceGators defenseman Maxime Fortunus. In the third period, the IceGators' added three more goals to improve to 9-1-0 against Texas this season. Parley suffered the loss despite making 52 saves.
Super Saver: Wildcatters netminder Davis Parley has made 45 or more saves in his past three starts between the pipes. In those three games, Parley has faced 156 shots, stopping 143 of them.
Roster Moves:
- The Texas Wildcatters released forward Mike McKay today.
- The Wildcatters will sign Ryan Fultz tomorrow. The 6'0", 210-lb. veteran forward has played four seasons in the ECHL, during which he has recorded 96 points (36g-60a) in 124 games. He was also an ECHL All-Star during the 2000-01 season with the New Orleans Brass.
