Johnstown Chiefs News Release
The Johnstown Chiefs (23-15-4; 50 PTS; 4th Northern div.) moved into sole possession of fourth place in the Northern division after going 2-1-0 last week. The Chiefs lost at home to the Roanoke Express Friday night, but rebounded nicely with a home win Saturday over Reading, and a road win Sunday at Toledo. The Chiefs will play a pair of games this week, both at home. Friday they take on the Atlantic City Boardwalk Bullies and the Reading Royals on Saturday. The Chiefs trail third place Peoria by three points.

GAME #40 (1/23/04) Roanoke 5 -JOHNSTOWN 2 Courville Goal, Assist
The Johnstown Chiefs five game unbeaten streak (4-0-1) was snapped Friday night, as they fell to the visiting Roanoke Express 5-2 at the War Memorial. Five different Roanoke players scored as Dan Carney, Andrew McPherson, Neil Posillico, Bryan Perez, and Rick Kowalsky all tallied. Larry Courville and Brent Kelly scored the Johnstown goals. Chiefs goaltender Cory Campbell (9 saves) suffered the loss, allowing three goals in a little more than a period and a half. David Currie (7 saves) came in relief of Campbell allowing two goals. Express goaltender Jason Wolfe stopped 32 of 34 Johnstown shots.
GAME #41 (1/24/04) JOHNSTOWN 4 - Reading 2 Tarabrin Two Goals
The Johnstown Chiefs picked up a much needed win Saturday night, as they defeated the Reading Royals, 4-2 at the War Memorial. The Chiefs got on the board with first period goals by Ian Manzano and Dmitri Tarabrin. Reading would close the gap with a Mat Snesrud goal 7:37 into the second period. Tarabrin would answer just 3:10 later with his second goal of the night. Nick Lent scored Reading's other goal, shorthanded, with 5:21 left in the second period. Jason Notermann added an empty net goal for Johnstown. Chiefs goaltender David Currie picked up the win making 40 saves, including 20 saves in the final period. Terry Deinke started in goal for the Royals allowing two goals and making 9 saves. Peter Hamerlik came in relief of Deinke in the second period allowing a goal and making 16 saves.
GAME #42 (1/25/04) Johnstown 4 - TOLEDO 2 Manzano Two Assists
The Johnstown Chiefs picked up their first win in Toledo in almost two years Sunday afternoon, as they defeated the Storm 4-2 at the Sports Arena. The Chiefs last win in Toledo was on March 29, 2002 (7 games). Steve Hildenbrand's 12th goal of the season, 4:47 into the third broke a 2-2 tie and gave the Chiefs the lead. Jay Langager gave the Chiefs the go ahead goal at 7:25 of the final frame. Dmitri Tarabrin scored his third goal in two games earlier in the second period. Chad Cavanagh scored the other Johnstown goal. Morten Ask and Landon Bathe scored for Toledo. Chiefs goaltender David Currie got his eighth win of the season making 29 saves. Toledo goaltender Doug Teskey made 37 saves in the loss.

The Chiefs will face the Atlantic City Boardwalk Bullies (28-10-1, 57 PTS; 2nd Northern div.) Friday night for the sixth time this season. The Chiefs are 2-3-0 against the Boardwalk Bullies this season. The Bullies have out scored the Chiefs 14-8. Atlantic City is currently in second place in the Northern division, trailing first place Wheeling by three points. The Bullies have won two straight games and are 8-1-1 in their last ten games.

The Reading Royals (21-13-6, 48 PTS; 5th Northern div.) come to Johnstown Saturday night for the sixth game this season between the two teams. The Chiefs are 3-2-0 against the Royals this season. Reading currently trails the Chiefs by two points for fourth place in the Northern division. The Royals are 5-4-1 in their last ten games. The Royals have the best home record in the ECHL (13-1-2).
CHIEFS NOTES:
- Jeff Sullivan passed the 1,000 career PIM mark Saturday night against Roanoke. Sullivan now has 1,008 PIM in 262 games with the Chiefs.
- The Chiefs are 8-3-3 on Saturday¡¦s this season.
- Willie Levesque was recalled Monday by the Cleveland Barons (AHL).
- The Chiefs are 0-14-2 when they allow three or more goals in a game.

January 28th - Several Chiefs players will be at East Side Elementary School in Johnstown from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. meeting and reading to students.
