Kalamazoo Wings News Release
Wheeling, WV - Just as they did in their previous encounter back on March 3rd, the Wheeling Nailers (29-26-3-8) erased a third period deficit to defeat the Kalamazoo Wings (32-28-4-2), this time with a 2-1 shootout victory at the WesBanco Arena.
Earning his first goal since November 2nd (Vs Cincinnati) Joe Charlebois put the K-Wings ahead 1-0 with a blue-line slap shot for his third-goal of the season 13:25 into the period.
Despite being outshot 14-3 in the second period, the K-Wings kept the Nailers off the scoreboard in the second period to preserve the one-goal advantage.
Wheeling evened the game in the third period with a shorthanded tally from Zack Torquato (3rd) 13:54 into the stanza.
Remained tied until the shootout, where the Nailers outscored the K-Wings 2-1 in the extra session. Wheeling earned goals from Keven Veilleux and the eventual game-winner from Torquato, while Kalamazoo earned their lone goal in the shootout off the stick of Alexandre Grenier.
