Eagles Spring Forward in Standings by Doubling-Up Aces

Colorado Eagles News Release
LOVELAND, Colo. - In the first of three games between the teams this week, the Colorado Eagles defeated the Alaska Aces, 4-2, to spring into 5th place in the Western Conference standings. Colorado now leads Las Vegas by a point and trails Stockton by five (with two games -- and a possible four points -- in hand) with five games left in the regular season.
The Eagles out-shot the Aces, 17-7, in an exciting & fast-flowing first frame. Colorado's league-leading power play got the home team up early when Kyle Ostrow put the puck home after several whacks from the doorstep 1:22 in. But the Aces countered at 4:36 when Tim Hall scored his first professional goal when a deflected pass found him all alone in the low slot.
Colorado out-shot Alaska again in the second and scored both of the period's goals to take a 3-1 lead into the third. Aaron Schneekloth put Colorado back on top at 9:25 when he stickhandled through the slot and put his own rebound past Gerald Coleman from below the right goal line extended. And five minutes later, Michael Forney helped set up an even prettier goal when he left a drop-pass between his legs in the left circle where Ostrow one-timed a rocket home.
The Eagles made it 4-1 eight minutes into the final frame when Tommy Lange finished a rush that featured several nice passes by chipping the puck home from the left post. It was Lange's first goal as an Eagle in his first game back in the lineup after missing 13 games with a lower body injury. Alaska countered at 14:30 when Nick Mazzolini controlled the puck behind Colorado's cage before finding a wide open Alexandre Imbeault in the low slot to account for the final score.
