WHEELING, WV - The Wheeling Nailers were able to end a six game home losing streak on Saturday night in front of over 3,000 fans at WesBanco Arena.

In the first period at the 2:44 mark Grant Jacobsen gave the Chiefs the lead at 1-0 off of a crossing pass from Ryan Gibbons. Later in the period David Mitchell tallied his first point as a Nailer to even the score at 1.

In the second period Cody Blanshan gave the Nailers a 2-1 lead with a blast from the circle that beat Chiefs goaltender Morgan Cey. The period would end with the Nailers leading 2-1.

The Chiefs tied the game in the third period when a shot from Brandon Elliot snuck through the pads of Andrew Penner that Penner appeared to stop.

In the shootout each team had scored twice when Joe Guenther entered the ice. Guenther broke down the ice and beat Cey on the right side to give the Nailers a 3-2 victory.

With the win the Nailers pull to within 10 points of the final playoff seat.

Following the game New Method entertained the crowd with a post game concert.

The Nailers return home Sunday afternoon to host the Reading Royals. Face off is set for 6:00 PM. Any fan who attended the Friday or Saturday game can get a ticket to Sunday's game for just $8.
