Augusta Lynx News Release

Augusta, GA - The Charlotte Checkers come to town tonight for a 7:35 pm game against the Augusta Lynx, with a post-game auction for the Lynx' white game worn sweaters following the contest!

After a thrilling 2-1 defeat of the Florida Everblades that featured a playoff-style intensity and plenty of hard hitting last night, Augusta looks to put two more points between itself (31-23-3, 65 pts.) and Charlotte (29-20-3, 61 pts.). The Lynx currently sit in fourth place in the ECHL's South Division and the Checkers in fifth.

After a shootout win for Gwinnett last night coupled with Florida's loss, both the Everblades and Gladiators are tied for first place in the division with 72 points. Out west, the Utah Grizzlies downed the Texas Wildcatters to bring Augusta within six points of third place with one game in hand for the Lynx.

The season series sits tied at 3-3-0, with four games between the two teams remaining including this evening. Augusta has claimed the last two games in the series 5-2 on New Year's Eve, and 5-4 on February 17. Brian Passmore (2-1-3), Shane Hynes (0-3-3), and Aaron Slattengren (1-2-3) each recorded three point games in the win two weeks ago, while Damen Rycroft had a pair of goals and an assist for Charlotte in the loss.

Following tonight's game, the Lynx will host a live auction for this year's set of white player jerseys. Auction winners will receive their jersey(s) following the completion of the 2006-07 season. The auction will be held in the Lynx Den.

Tickets are on sale now for all remaining Lynx home games by calling the Lynx office at (706) 724-4ICE, or stopping by the James Brown Arena box office. Seats are also on sale through all TicketMaster locations and on line at www.TicketMaster.com. See you at the game!
