Mrsic Headed to U17's

Medicine Hat, AB - The Medicine Hat Tigers are proud to announce that 06 born forward Tomas Mrsic (Surrey, BC) has been named to Team Canada's U17 team representing Team Canada Red at the upcoming U17 Championships in Langley, BC later this month.
Mrsic, 16, in 5 games played with the Tigers this season has one goal and two assists, while in 15 career Western Hockey League games dating back to the 2021-2022 season, the sixteen year old has 2 goals and 2 assists.
Mrsic says he can't wait to represent his country. "I got the call during our US Division road trip when we were in Everett last week," he says. "It's a dream come true to play for Team Canada, as a kid watching the World Juniors I've always had aspirations to play in that tournament, the U17's is a step in that direction and I'm looking forward to the challenge ahead."
Tomas joins six other Western Leaguers on Team Red, and to some of who he's played against already this season in Berkly Catton of the Spokane Chiefs, Tij Iginla from the Seattle Thunderbirds, Tarin Smith from the Everett Silvertips and Caleb Hadland from the Brandon Wheat Kings who he'll face on Saturday at Co-op Place. Also joining Mrsic on Team Red is Carson Wetsch from the Calgary Hitmen.
Mrsic says it will be nice to see some familiar faces on Team Red. "I played with Berkly Catton during the U17 camp this summer, as well I played with Tij Iginla on Team BC during the WHL Cup," he says.
The WHL Rookie went on to say he can't thank his Tiger teammates, coaches and organization for all they've done to help reach this goal of his. "It's up to me to continue to work hard like we have all season and continue that trend going into the U17's, my experience with the Tigers has been a step in the right direction to further my development as a player and a person."
Mrsic will depart for the U17's on October 31st before returning to Medicine Hat on November 13th.
The Tigers wish Tomas nothing but the absolute best as he represents the team and the community on the start of his International Hockey Journey.
