ICE Gets Past Royals, 3-2

Matthew Savoie had a goal and an assist to lead the Winnipeg ICE to a 3-2 victory over the Victoria Royals Tuesday night on Vancouver Island.

Zach Benson and Briley Wood also scored as the ICE improved their record to 8-1 while outshooting the Royals 41-21.

Benson's goal was scored shorthanded. Winnipeg has now capitalized five times this season while on the penalty kill.

Matthew Hodson and Teague Patton scored late in the third period for the Royals (2-8-1).

Dawson Cowan earned his first victory of the season in goal for the ICE. Tyler Palmer suffered the loss.

Winnipeg continues their road trip Wednesday night in Vancouver. The Fort Garry Brewing Company pregame show gets underway at 8:30 on CFRW 1290.
