Brandon Wheat Kings News Release
KAMLOOPS B.C. - The Brandon Wheat Kings suffered a 5-2 loss at the hands of the Kamloops Blazers Tuesday night.
The Wheat Kings came out strong with a couple great scoring chances early but Blazers goaltender Dylan Ernst kept it scoreless with under a minute to go in the opening frame. With 20 seconds remaining Daylan Kuefler was able to score with a wrist shot which would go off the glove of Carson Bjarnason and in to make it 1-0 Blazers after one.
Wheat Kings forward Nate Danielson would find a way to tie it up after capitalizing off a turnover and beating Ernst glove side. Midway through the period Daylan Kuefler would score an unlikely goal firing a puck from the ride side corner behind the net squeaking past Carson Bjarnason to restore the one goal lead for the Blazer. The Blazers would add another late in the period with Connor Levis scoring off an awkward shot from the right side circle which would fool Bjarnason to give the Blazers a 3-1 lead after 40 minutes.
The Wheat Kings would dominate the beginning of the third period and were rewarded with Calder Anderson finding his trailer Logen Hammett to score his first of the season cutting the lead back to one. The Blazer would push back scoring off what appeared to be a high stick from Matt Seminoff. The goal was reviewed for an extended period of time and it was determined by the officials that the stick was below the crossbar giving the Blazers a 4-2 lead. With the game out of reach the Wheat Kings would attempt a last ditch effort pulling their goaltender while on the powerplay but Ethan Brandwood would score on the empty netter to make it a 5-2 final.
