LAST WEEK'S HIGHLIGHTS

Vs. Wilkes-Barre/Scranton (10/24): The Manchester Monarchs narrowly skated past the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins with a 3-2 victory at the Verizon Wireless Arena on Friday night. The Monarchs collected goals from center Gabe Gauthier, defenseman Viatcheslav Voynov and defenseman Alec Martinez. The Penguins picked up late third period tallies from defenseman Ben Lovejoy and center Jeff Taffe. Monarchs' goaltender Jonathan Quick earned his first win of the season stopping 31 shots. Penguins' netminder Adam Berkhoel took the loss stopping 26-of-29 shots. Manchester went 1-for-9 on the power play. Wilkes-Barre/Scranton was 0-for-7 with the man advantage.

At Hartford (10/25): Left wing Pierre Parenteau scored a goal and two assists as the Manchester Monarchs fell to the Hartford Wolf Pack 4-1 at the XL Center on Saturday night. Center Trevor Lewis picked up the lone power play goal for Manchester. Center Artem Anisimov, center Tommy Pyatt and right wing Dale Weiss joined Parenteau on the scoreboard for Hartford. Monarchs' goaltender Jonathan Quick took the loss with 22 saves on 26 shots. Wolf Pack netminder Miika Wiikman earned the win with 31 saves. Manchester went 1-for-6 with the man advantage. Hartford was 2-for-8 on the power play.

10/17/08: The Los Angeles Kings (NHL) signed defenseman Andrew Campbell to a multi-year contract and assigned him to the Manchester Monarchs (AHL).

Manchester is currently tied for sixth place in the Atlantic Division after six games with a record of 2-4-0-0 and four points.

The Monarchs have started out with a winning record in their first six games only three seasons out of their eight year existence.

The Monarchs are ranked 26th in the AHL on the power play. The team is 4-for-42 with the man advantage for a

9.5-percent rating.

Manchester is ranked 15th in the AHL on the penalty kill. The team has stopped their opponent 35 times on 42 opportunities for an 83.3-percent rating.

When the Monarchs score first this season, they win the game. In the four games they have lost, their opponent jumped on the scoreboard first.

Manchester is undefeated on Fridays this season. Both of the Monarchs' wins have come on Fridays.

18 of the Monarchs 21 skaters that have suited up for the first six games have scored a point. Only three players, right wing Jon Rheault, defenseman Andrew Campbell and defenseman Drew Bagnall have yet to put a point on the scoreboard.

Center Gabe Gauthier leads the Monarchs after six games with two goals and five assists for seven points. The third year center finished third on Manchester's squad during the 2007-08 season with 60 points (23-37=60).

Gauthier's (2-5=7) point streak came to an end on Saturday when he was held scoreless against the Hartford Wolf Pack. He collected seven points in the first five games of the season.

Gauthier is tied for eighth place on the Monarchs all-time assist list with right wing Brad Smyth. Gauthier has 70 assists in 135 games with the Monarchs since 2006. He is also ranked 10th on the Monarchs all-time goals list with 39 tallies and ninth in scoring with 109 points.

Gauthier's five assists are tied for 18th place in the AHL.

Reigning AHL Rookie of the Year right Teddy Purcell registered two assists on Friday night to bring his point total to five (3-2=5) in six games, good for second place on the team.

Defensemen Viatcheslav Voynov and Alec Martinez scored their first professional goals on Friday against the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins.

Martinez and center Trevor Lewis are each on two-game point streaks. They each tallied a goal and an assist this weekend.
