Canadiens Assign Mathieu Carle To Bulldogs

MONTREAL, QC - Montreal Canadiens General Manager Bob Gainey announced today that the club has assigned defenceman Mathieu Carle to the Hamilton Bulldogs.

Carle, 21, has been out of action since suffering an injury in a pre-season game with the Canadiens. Last year, the native of Gatineau, Quebec competed in his first professional season with the Bulldogs recording 24 points (seven goals, 17 assists) and earning 43 penalty minutes in 64 games.

The 6-foot, 205-pound blueliner spent four years playing in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League before last season. Montreal's 2nd round, 53rd overall, selection in the 2006 NHL Entry Draft accumulated a total of 195 points (49 goals, 146 assists) in 258 games played with the Acadie-Bathurst Titan and Rouyn-Noranda Huskies from 2003 until 2007. Carle also produced 31 points (seven goals, 24 assists) in 33 QMJHL post-season games.

The 'Dogs host the Hershey Bears on Wednesday, October 29th, for a 7:30 battle at Copps Coliseum. On Friday, October 31st, Hamilton welcomes the Lake Erie Monsters to Copps Coliseum for a 7:30 p.m. match-up. The Bulldogs proceeds to hit the road on Saturday, November 1st, traveling to Rochester to take-on the Americans at 7:35 at Blue Cross Arena before visiting Ricoh Coliseum on Sunday, November 2nd, to meet their North Division archrivals the Toronto Marlies for a 4:00 p.m. afternoon game.
