Adirondack Phantoms News Release
WEDNESDAY, OCT. 29 - PHANTOMS AT NORFOLK, 7:15 PM - Norfolk Scope
This will be the first of eight matchups this season between the Phantoms and the Norfolk Admirals (Tampa Bay Lightening). The Admirals have just four points on the year with a 1-4-0-2 record, and currently sit in sixth place in the East Division. Brandon Segal leads the Admirals with eight points on four goals and four assists. The two teams faced each other ten times during the 07-08 season, with the Phantoms coming out on top in seven of them. The Admirals are looking to shore up a defensive unit that has allowed 32 goals in their first seven games.
SATURDAY, NOV. 1 - PHANTOMS AT HERSHEY, 7:00 PM - Giant Center
SUNDAY, NOV. 2 - PHANTOMS VS. HERSHEY, 5:05 PM - Wachovia Spectrum
The Phantoms play a home and home series against the Hershey Bears (Washington Capitals) this weekend, their first of two such situations this month. Hershey is off to a fast start this year, winning seven of its first eight games. In their last meeting on October 17, the Bears came from behind in the third period to edge the Phantoms 5-4 at the Wachovia Spectrum. Keith Aucoin leads the AHL with 17 points this season on five goals and 12 assists. Last year, the Bears won seven of the 12 meetings between the two teams. Hershey is on an offensive tear, piling up 44 goals in just eight games to kick off the 2008-09 season. Alexandre Giroux leads the Bears attack by averaging a goal per game and leading the AHL with eight total tallies.
NEXT HOME GAME
The Phantoms return to the Wachovia Spectrum this Sunday, November 2nd when they host the Hershey Bears at 5:05 PM. It will be 60's Night at the Spectrum, and all fans are encouraged to wear their hippest retro gear. Tickets are still available! Call 1-800-298-4200 or go online to phantomshockey.com for more details.
TWO MORE PHANTOMS MAKE NHL DEBUTS
Andreas Nodl made his NHL for the Philadelphia Flyers on Wednesday October 22nd against the San Jose Sharks at the Wachovia Spectrum. It was a memorable day for Nodl, as he picked up his first NHL point on an assist in the first period. Then on Thursday, Darroll Powe was recalled by the Flyers and made his NHL debut the next night in the Flyers' 6-3 win on the road against the New Jersey Devils. Powe took ten shifts and totaled seven minutes of ice time. The two joined Jared Ross in making their NHL debuts in the first two weeks of the season.
