Columbus Reassigns Defenseman Kyle Wharton

Syracuse, NY (October 27, 2008) - The Syracuse Crunch announced today that the Columbus Blue Jackets have reassigned defenseman Kyle Wharton from Syracuse to Johnstown (ECHL).

Wharton, 22, has yet to appear in a game for the Crunch this season. Last season, he skated in 13 games with the Crunch, notching two goals, one assist and 29 penalty minutes. He also appeared in 32 games with Elmira (ECHL) last year, recording four goals, seven assists and 46 penalty minutes.

A native of Ottawa, Ontario, Wharton was drafted by Columbus in the second round, 59th overall, in the 2004 NHL Entry Draft.

The Crunch continue their 15th AHL season on Wednesday, October 29, as they begin a four-game road trip at Grand Rapids. The Crunch return home on Saturday, November 8, as they square off against division rival Manitoba at 7:30 p.m. Tickets for all Crunch home games are available by calling the Crunch Box Office, (315) 473-4444, or by visiting the Crunch office in the War Memorial at Oncenter in downtown Syracuse.
