LAST WEEK'S HIGHLIGHTS

Vs. San Antonio (2/8): Right wing Konstantin Pushkarev recorded his first career hat trick in the Manchester Monarchs 6-1 win over the San Antonio Rampage at the Verizon Wireless Arena on Wednesday night. Left wing Noah Clarke, right wing Brad Smyth and right wing Lauri Tukonen added to the scoreboard for the Monarchs. Center Pascal Rheaume collected the lone goal for the Rampage. Monarchs goaltender Barry Brust earned his 12th win of the season stopping 26 shots. Rampage goaltender David LeNeveu made 21 saves in the loss before being replaced by Karl Goehring who stopped six shots. Manchester went 0-for-3 on the power play. San Antonio was also 0-for-3 with the man advantage.

Vs. Houston (2/10): Left wing Noah Clarke rounded-up his first multi-goal game since November 5 to lift the Manchester Monarchs over the Houston Aeros at the Verizon Wireless Arena on Saturday night. Clarke scored on the power play and shorthanded to add on to forward Brendan Bernakevitch's seventh of the season and center Greg Hogeboom's fifth of the season. Defensemen Scott Ferguson and Erik Reitz scored for the Aeros. Monarchs goaltender Barry Brust earned his 13th victory of the season with 26 saves. Aeros goaltender Seamus Kotyk took the loss stopping 30 shots. Manchester went 1-for-3 on the power play. Houston was 0-for-6 with the man advantage.

Vs. Providence (2/11): Five different players scored in the Manchester Monarchs 6-3 beating of the Providence Bruins on Saturday night at the Verizon Wireless Arena. Center Matt Ryan scored twice and center Connor James, left wing Petr Kanko, forward Brendan Bernakevitch and left wing Jeff Tambellini were able to find the back of the net for Manchester. The Bruins received goals from right wing David Lundbohm, center Ben Guite and center Pascal Pelletier. Monarchs goaltender Barry Brust earned his third win in a row and 14th of the season by stopping 32 shots. Bruins goaltender Brian Eklund was relieved of his duties after letting in four goals on 12 shots in 28 minutes and 38 seconds of playing time. Eklund was replaced by Jordan Sigalet who stopped 11 shots. Manchester went 0-for-3 on the power play. Providence was 1-for-5 with the man advantage.

MONARCHS TRANSACTIONS

2/12/06: The Los Angeles Kings (NHL) returned left wing Jeff Giuliano on loan to the Manchester Monarchs (AHL).

2/11/06: The Manchester Monarchs (AHL) signed defenseman Mark Ardelan to a standard player contract.

2/7/06: The Manchester Monarchs (AHL) returned defenseman Reagan Rome on loan to the Reading Royals (ECHL).

MONARCHS NEWS & NOTES

The Manchester Monarchs (31-14-2-4, 68 points) are in second place in the Atlantic Division. The Portland Pirates (31-13-5-3, 70 points) are two points ahead of the Monarchs to lead the Atlantic Division.

The club has sent 18 out of their 51 games into overtime and/or a shootout this season, winning 12 out of those 18 games.

Manchester is 7-4 in shootouts and 5-2 in overtime games this season.

The Monarchs are 5-0-1-0 in their last six games.

The Monarchs are undefeated at home on Sundays (4-0-0-0).

At home, the Monarchs are undefeated in regulation when they are leading after the second period (10-0-0-0) and in one-goal games (9-0-2-2).

Manchester is undefeated (11-0-0-0) when they score five or more goals.

With special teams, the Monarchs power play is ranked 25th in the League, capitalizing 40 times on 292 opportunities with the man advantage. Ranked 11th in penalty killing, Manchester has given up 53 goals on 319 opportunities.

Manchester has the lowest number of penalty minutes in the AHL with 811 penalty minutes.

The Monarchs lead the AHL in attendance after 26 home games, averaging 8,545 fans per game.

Right wing Brad Smyth (23-31=54) leads the team with 23 goals, 31 assists and 54 points.

At 6-foot, 200-pounds and a native of Ottawa, Ontario, Smyth's 54 points are tied for 10th among the AHL's top scorers.

Smyth is tied for fourth in the AHL with a plus/minus of plus-18.

Left wing Jeff Tambellini is second in team scoring for the Monarchs with 49 points (22-27=49).

A former University of Michigan Wolverine, Tambellini is ranked third in the AHL among rookie scorers (49 points), third among rookie goal scorers (22) and is tied for fifth among rookies in assists (27).

Tambellini is tied for first among AHL rookies and tied for fourth in the AHL with his plus/minus of plus-18.

Right wing Petr Kanko is tied for third place in the AHL with three shorthanded goals on the season.

Left wing Noah Clarke has four points in the last three games, including two game-winners. The 5-foot-9, 175-pound native of LaVerne, California, has three goals and one assist for four points and a plus/minus of plus-three in those three games.

Defenseman Joey Mormina returned to the line-up on Wednesday, February 8 after missing 14 games due to a knee injury. In his first three games back, the 6-foot-6, 220-pound native of Montreal, Quebec, has recorded five assists.

Center Connor James is currently on a four-game point streak. The 5-foot-10, 191-pound native of Calgary, Alberta, has collected two goals and two assists in the last four games.

Center Greg Hogeboom is currently on a five-game point streak. The 6-foot, 190-pound native of Etobicoke, Ontario, has seven points in his last four games, three goals and four assists.

Rookie defenseman Richard Petiot is second in line behind Tambellini among AHL rookies and third among defenseman with a plus/minus of plus-17.

Goaltender Adam Hauser is tied for seventh place among AHL goaltenders with 15 wins.

The 6-foot-2, 194-pound native of Bovey, Minnesota, leads the league with a shootout record of 5-2.

Goaltender Barry Brust has been between the pipes for five of the last six Monarchs games winning four games and losing the fifth in overtime. The 6-foot-2, 216-pound native of Swan River, Manitoba, has compiled a record of 14-5-1, a goals-against-average of 2.39 and a save-percentage of 0.923 in 20 games this season.

Brust is also ranked fourth among AHL goaltenders with a goals-against-average of 2.39 and tied for second in the AHL with a 0.923 save-percentage.
