February 13, 2006 - American Hockey League (AHL)
Norfolk Admirals News Release
The Blackhawks announced today that they have assigned defenseman James Wisniewski and Danny Richmond to the Norfolk Admirals of the American Hockey League.
Wisniewski was recalled by the Blackhawk on January 31 and appeared in six games recording two points (0-2-2) and six penalty minutes. He has appeared in 44 AHL games for the Admirals this season and scored 5 goals while adding 21 assists for 26 points with 50 penalty minutes.
The 21-year-old defenseman was the Blackhawks' 5th round pick (156th overall) in the 2002 NHL Entry Draft. Wisniewski was a member of the Team USA World Junior squad that captured the Gold Medal in the 2004 World Junior Championships. He also won the Gold Medal as a member of Team USA in the World Under-17 Challenge in 2001 and the Under-18 World Junior Championships in 2002.
Richmond was recalled from the Admirals on January 26 and appeared in seven NHL games with the Blackhawks recording no points and 11 penalty minutes.
Richmond was acquired by the Blackhawks on January 20, 2006, from the Carolina Hurricanes along with a 4th round pick in 2006 in exchange for defenseman Anton Babchuk and a 4th round pick in 2007. He reported to Norfolk where he appeared in 2 games and scored 1 goal with 2 penalty minutes before his recall.
Before being acquired by the Blackhawks, Richmond had split the season between Lowell in the AHL and the Carolina Hurricanes. For Carolina, he appeared in 10 games and had one assist with seven penalty minutes. For Lowell, he had appeared in 32 games scoring four goals and adding 11 assists for 15 points with 60 penalty minutes. He was named to the AHL Planet USA All-Star Team for 2006.
Richmond was also a member of the Team USA World Junior Championship team that captured the Gold Medal in 2004. In fact, he had a pair of assists in the Gold Medal game in a 4-3 win over Canada.
