Cleveland Barons News Release

CLEVELAND - San Jose Sharks Executive Vice President and General Manager Doug Wilson announced that the club has reassigned right wing Steve Bernier to the Cleveland Barons.

Bernier has 42 points (19-23-42) and 33 penalty minutes in 44 games with the Barons this season. At the time of his recall, he led in the Barons in scoring and owned a four game point streak (1-4-5). He is currently third on the team in scoring and 7th among AHL rookie scoring leaders.

The six-foot-two, 230-pound right wing set a new Cleveland Barons franchise record for consecutive point streak to begin a season and rookie point streak to begin a career by opening his season with a seven-game point streak. His six game-winning goals also set a new single season franchise record.

Bernier was recalled on Jan. 30 for his second NHL stint. He has played in 13 games with the Sharks, earning five points (1-4-5) and a plus-two plus/minus rating. He leaves San Jose with a three game assist streak (0-3-3) intact.
