Peoria Rivermen News Release
Peoria, IL (February 13, 2006) - Director of Community Relations Angie Sammons of the Peoria Rivermen, the proud primary affiliate of the St. Louis Blues, reiterated today that several members of the Rivermen will appear at various functions throughout the Peoria area this week.
On Valentine's Day, two members of the team will visit the Kingman Primary School in Peoria. There, they will read to students and demonstrate the use of hockey equipment.
A group of three Rivermen and the Rivermen mascot "The Captain" will receive fans and sign autographs at a local Arby's restaurant. This public appearance will last from 5:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday, February 15, at the Arby's restaurant on River Road in East Peoria.
The Rivermen have scheduled two community appearances for Thursday, February 16. At 2:00 p.m. that day, three Rivermen skaters and "The Captain" will appear at the MidAmerica National Bank in downtown Peoria. Each Rivermen fan who attends this special event will receive a free autographed puck and will also have the chance to win door prizes, such as an autographed Rivermen jersey.
Between 6:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, three other Rivermen players and "The Captain" will receive fans and sign autographs at the Casey's General Store location in Creve Coeur. Only during this one-hour special event will the Creve Coeur Casey's General Store offer fountain soft drinks for one cent per ounce, large one-topping pizzas for $5.00 each, and the combination of one slice of pizza and a 20-ounce fountain soft drink for $0.99.
The Rivermen are a proud new member of the AHL. Founded in 1936, the AHL now serves as the primary development league for all 30 National Hockey League teams and is celebrating its 70th anniversary season in 2005-06.
