
Blues return three players to Rivermen

Peoria, IL (February 13, 2006) - Peoria Rivermen General Manager of Hockey Operations Kevin McDonald announced today that the Rivermen parent club St. Louis Blues of the National Hockey League (NHL) has returned three forwards on loan to Peoria: Mike Glumac (GLOO-mack), Lee Stempniak (STIHMP-nee-ak), and Trent Whitfield (WHIHT-feeld).
Glumac, 25, returns to the Rivermen as the team's leading scorer. In 44 games played for Peoria so far in 2005-06, the 6-2, 203-pound right wing has racked up 49 points on 23 goals and 26 assists and also accumulated 51 minutes in penalties. During his first-ever stint in the NHL, the Niagara Falls, Ontario, product skated in seven games with the Blues and picked up two goals, one assist, and zero penalty minutes.
Stempniak, 23, heads back to Peoria fresh off his third tour of duty in St. Louis this season. The 6-0, 195-pound right winger has appeared in 20 American Hockey League (AHL) tilts in this, his rookie professional season, recording eight goals, five assists, and 25 minutes in penalties. The native of West Seneca, New York, presently ranks ninth on the Blues in scoring with 15 points (nine goals, six assists) in 31 NHL appearances and has also incurred 12 penalty minutes at the NHL level.
Whitfield, 28, re-joins the Rivermen as the team's second-leading point-getter. In 36 outings for Peoria this season, the 5-11, 204-pound centerman has produced 43 total points (15 goals, 28 assists) and accumulated 14 penalty minutes. Originally from Estevan, Saskatchewan, he has appeared in four games for the Blues this season, registering two penalty minutes and three shots on goal.
The Rivermen are a proud new member of the AHL. Founded in 1936, the AHL now serves as the primary development league for all 30 National Hockey League teams and is celebrating its 70th anniversary season in 2005-06.
