LAST WEEK'S HIGHLIGHTS
At Lowell (10/14): The Manchester Monarchs fell to the Lowell Lock Monsters, 4-2, at the Tsongas Arena on Friday night. Center Ryan Steeves scored two goals, including the game-winner for the Lock Monsters. Lowell also had scoring from right wing Pavel Brendl and defenseman Danny Richmond. Right wing Petr Kanko and defenseman Doug Nolan scored their first goals of the 2005-06 season for Manchester. Monarchs goaltender Adam Hauser took his second loss of the season, stopping 31 of 35 shots. Lowell's rookie goaltender Vitaly Kolesnik stopped 33 shots for his professional win. The Monarchs were 0-for-6 on the power play and Lowell went 2-for-9.
Vs. Springfield (10/15): The Manchester Monarchs defeated the Springfield Falcons, 3-2, in overtime in their home opener at the Verizon Wireless Arena on Saturday night. Right wing Petr Kanko scored the game-winning goal at 2:32 of overtime to give the Monarchs their first win of the 2005-06 season. Monarchs' rookie right wings Konstantin Pushkarev and Lauri Tukonen scored their first professional goals in the victory. The Falcons lit the lamp with goals from right wings Norm Milley and Evgeny Artyukhin. Monarchs' goaltender Adam Hauser earned his first win of the season, turning aside 37 shots. Falcons goaltender Gerald Coleman took his first loss of the season, making 32 saves on 35 shots. Manchester was 0-for-8 on the power play and Springfield went 1-for-11.

10/14/05: The Los Angeles Kings (NHL) loaned defenseman Richard Petiot to the Manchester Monarchs (AHL).
10/11/05: The Manchester Monarchs (AHL) loaned forward Brendan Bernakevitch and defensemen Tyler Hanchuck and Eric Werner to the Reading Royals (ECHL).

The Monarchs have gone 11-0-0 in the last 11-games against the Springfield Falcons. The last time the Monarchs lost to the Falcons was on April 10, 2004, when the Falcons topped Manchester, 2-1.
Right wing Petr Kanko lit the lamp on both Friday, October 14 versus the Lowell Lock Monsters and Saturday, October 15 against the Falcons. Kanko's goal against the Falcons was the game-winner, coming at 2:32 of overtime.
Left wing Noah Clarke, selected by the Kings in the ninth-round (250th overall) in the 1999 NHL Entry Draft, has a three-game assist streak. Clarke leads the Monarchs with three-points (0-3=3) in three games this season.
Right wing Brad Smyth reached the 400 professional assist plateau on Friday, October 14, by helping out defenseman Doug Nolan on his first goal of the year. Smyth is currently tied for 42nd on the AHL's all-time regular season point list with 582 points (292-290=582) in 532 games over nine seasons (1994-present).
