A LOOK BACK

Friday, Oct. 14, PENGUINS 3 @ Norfolk Admirals 2 Jonathan Filewich, Daniel Carcillo and Ryan Whitney tallied goals, and Dany Sabourin stopped 36 of 38 shots, to lead the Penguins to a 3-2 win against the Norfolk Admirals at the Scope. Carcillo and Whitney each picked up two points (1+1) in the game. Carcillo's goal was his first as a professional. The win upped the Penguins' record to 4-0-0-0 on the season, best in the AHL.

NOTES

The Penguins' current four-game winning streak is the longest since the team strung together four consecutive victories from February 27-March 26, 2005. The Penguins' longest winning streak last season was five games from October 29-November 7. Entering this week's action, the Penguins ranked first in power play percentage at 26.9% (seven goals/26 attempts) and in team goals against average at 1.71 (seven goals against/245 minutes played). The Penguins have not allowed an even-strength goal since opening night, October 5, against the Bridgeport Sound Tigers. All six goals scored against the Penguins since then have come on the power play.

LEAGUE LEADERS

Ryan Whitney enters this week's action tied for fourth in overall scoring and first among defensemen in scoring with eight points (2+6), and tied for second overall with six assists. Erik Christensen is tied for fourth in overall scoring with six points (4+2) and tied for fourth in goal scoring with four. Michel Ouellet is tied for fourth in overall scoring with six points (1+5), is tied for fifth with five assists, and is tied for fourth with a plus-four rating. Guillaume Lefebvre is tied for fourth with a plus-four rating. Daniel Carcillo is tied for fourth among rookies with four points.

MILESTONES

Daniel Carcillo picked up his first professional goal in Friday night's 3-2 win against the Norfolk Admirals. Tomas Surovy moved into sole possession of eighth place on the Penguins' all-time games played list Friday night with 217. He had been tied with Matt Murley heading into that contest.
