Mark Murphy Reassigned

PHILADELPHIA - It was announced today that left wing Mark Murphy has been reassigned by the Philadelphia Flyers from the Phantoms to HIFK Helsinki of the Finish Elite League.

Murphy had participated in two games with the Phantoms this season, scoring two goals. His first marker was the overtime game-winner on opening night. Through two-plus seasons and 145 regular season games with the Phantoms, the Massachusetts native scored 31 goals and added 52 assists: 145(31/52/83). Originally drafted by the Toronto Maple Leafs in the 1995 NHL Entry Draft, Murphy was signed as a free agent by Philadelphia on July 24, 2003.

The defending Calder Cup Champions are in the midst of a seven game road trip, taking them to Norfolk this weekend for a pair of games with the Admirals. The Phantoms next home game will take place at the Wachovia Spectrum on Nov. 4. A championship banner celebration will precede the 7:05 pm showdown with the Hershey Bears.
