
Moises Gomez joins Kernels from Fort Myers

Cedar Rapids, IA - The Cedar Rapids Kernels and Minnesota Twins announce that RHP Jordan Balazovic has been promoted to Fort Myers and RHP Moises Gomez will join the Kernels from Fort Myers. Brian Maloney, Senior Manager of Minor League Operations, announced the move.
The Twins signed Gomez as a non-drafted free agent on April 9, 2014. He made 15 relief appearances for the Kernels last season, posting an 0-1 record, 3.77 ERA and was 2-2 in save chances. In 28.2 IP, he allowed 26 hits and 15 runs (12 earned) with nine walks and 24 strikeouts.
Balazovic was a member of the Kernels 2019 Opening Day Roster and made four starts for the Kernels, posting a 2-1 record and 2.18 ERA. In 20.2 IP, he allowed 15 hits and seven runs (five earned) with four walks and 33 strikeouts. He was selected by the Twin in the 5th round of the 2016 First Year Player Draft out of St. Martin Secondary School in Mississauga, Ontario.
Gomez is active and available for tonight's 6:35 PM game with the Dayton Dragons. With today's transactions, the Kernels roster remains at the MWL maximum of 25 active players, with two players on the injured list, and one player on the restricted list.
The Kernels are in the midst of a six-game home stand that continues tonight at 6:35 PM against the Dayton Dragons. The current home stand continues through Sunday, May 5th.
