Mississippi\'s Drive For Five Is Alive

BILOXI, Miss. – The Mississippi Sea Wolves won both of their games last week to extend their season-high win streak to five consecutive games.

In a two-game weekend series, the Sea Wolves downed the Pee Dee Pride 3-1 on Friday at the Mississippi Coast Coliseum and then on Saturday, Mississippi defeated Pee Dee 4-1 at the Wolves Den.

The Sea Wolves have posted a 21-14-3 overall record for 45 points in 38-of-72 games.

Mississippi is tied for third place with the Gwinnett Gladiators in the South Division and is even with both Gwinnett and the Columbia Inferno in sixth place in the 12-team American Conference.

The Sea Wolves are 11-8-1 at home, 10-6-2 on the road, 2-2 in overtime games and 3-1 in shootouts.

Sea Wolves 3, Pride 1 – Win
* Mississippi scored three goals in third period for the third straight game.
* Sea Wolves goal scorers were Mike Jarmuth, Pat O'Leary and Jeff Hutchins.
* Pride picked up a goal from Allan Sirois.
* Mississippi goaltender Matt Underhill stopped 38-of-39 shots to register the win.
* Pee Dee's Nick Boucher turned away 17 shots in the loss.


Saturday, January 29 vs. Pee Dee Pride – Mississippi Coast Coliseum
Sea Wolves 4, Pride 1 – Win
* Mississippi collected goals from Nicolas Corbeil, Chris Cava, Travis Lisabeth and Mike Jarmuth.
* Pee Dee's lone tally came off of the stick of Jake Wiegand.
* Sea Wolves goaltender Matt Underhill stopped 34 shots to earn his fifth straight victory and 13th overall.
* Pride started Nick Boucher, who made eight saves before being replaced by Sebastien Laplante, who stopped 20-of-21 shots.

PLAYER OF THE WEEK – Rookie defenseman Mike Jarmuth extended his goal scoring streak to three games (3g) and stretched his point streak to five straight games (4g-3a). The 22-year-old notched a goal in each of the two victories against Pee Dee, while posting a plus/minus of +3. Overall this season, the native of Monkton, Ontario, Jarmuth is tied for second among ECHL defensemen with nine goals and is ranked first among ECHL blueliners with an 11.4 percent shooting efficiency. The 6-foot and 205-pound Jarmuth has also registered eight assists, 17 points, a plus/minus of +5 and 10 penalty minutes in 38 games this season.

GOALTENDER OF THE WEEK – Matt Underhill backstopped the Sea Wolves to a pair of victories going 2-0-0 last week, extending his win streak to five games. The 6-foot-2 and 220-pound Underhill allowed just two goals in the two games, turning aside 72-of-74 shots for a spectacular 1.00 goals-against average and .973 save percentage. A native of Campbell River, British Columbia, the 25-year-old Underhill has appeared in a total of 22 games this season, compiling an overall record of 13-6-3 with three shutouts, a 2.48 goals-against average and .929 save percentage.
