Rochester Red Wings News Release

A quiet game from the Red Wings bats and a pair of homers from Syracuse spelled the first loss of the series for Rochester as they fell to Syracuse, 6-4, Friday night at Frontier Field.

For the second game in a row, red hot shortstop Luis Garcia got the scoring started for the Red Wings (11-10), hitting an RBI double down the left-field line in the third inning. Garcia is now 7-for-10 in the series against Syracuse.

Syracuse (7-13) reclaimed the lead in the sixth inning with back-to-back home runs from Nick Plummer and former Red Wing fan favorite Daniel Palka.

The Red Wings didn't go down without a fight as Andrew Stevenson hit a towering one-out homer in the ninth to bring the Wings to within just two. Mets right-handed reliever Colin Holderman shut down any further Rochester comeback, getting the final two outs and earning the save.

Right-handed pitcher Jackson Tetreault toed the slab to start the game for the Wings, going 5 1/3 innings, walking just one batter while striking out five. He took the loss allowing four runs.

The Wings continued to wreak havoc on the base paths, stealing their third bag of the series, and their 15th in the last nine games, good for fifth in all of Triple-A during that stretch.

The Wings look to rebound on Saturday, as they take on the Mets in a doubleheader. First pitch at 1:05.
