
Knights Skewer the 'Shrimp 12-5 on Thursday

(UPTOWN CHARLOTTE, NC) - RHP Johnny Cueto was sharp over six shutout innings and the Charlotte Knights broke out the bats again en route to a dominating 12-5 victory over the Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp on Thursday night from Truist Field in Uptown Charlotte. The win was Charlotte's second in as many days.
Over the past two games, the Knights have combined to score 22 runs on 32 hits to beat the Jumbo Shrimp in consecutive nights. Along with the outstanding offense, the Knights also received some solid pitching for the second day in-a-row.
Cueto, 36, made his second start of the season with the Charlotte Knights on Thursday and struck-out nine batters over six scoreless innings pitched. Cueto (0-0, 4.05) allowed just one hit and threw 45 pitches (29 for strikes) on Thursday.
Offensively, the Knights once again received some solid offensive performances, including a career day at the plate for shortstop Zach Remillard. The 28-year-old went 3-for-3 with three runs scored, a home run and six RBIs on the evening. He launched his first home run of the season in the fifth inning.
One inning later, right fielder Micker Adolfo hit his first home run of the season to add to the Charlotte hit parade.
Designated hitter Blake Rutherford went 3-for-5 with two runs scored and second baseman Yolbert Sánchez extended his hit streak to three games with a single.
LHP Kyle Kubat (2-0, 7.07) earned the win in relief of Cueto. Kubat gave up three runs on two hits over three innings for his second win of the season.
The Knights will continue the series against the Jumbo Shrimp on Friday night with first pitch on tap for 7:04 p.m. from Uptown Charlotte.
