
Mets top IronPigs in Syracuse

Lehigh Valley IronPigs News Release
(Syracuse, NY) - They Syracuse Mets (3-12) were able to get their first win against the Lehigh Valley IronPigs (9-6) this season by scoring three runs in the bottom of the fifth inning after falling behind 3-2. They would hold on to win the game 5-3.
Cornelius Randolph continued his hot hitting for Lehigh Valley when hit a solo home run against former IronPigs pitcher Jerad Eickhoff (2-0) in the top of the second inning to give the Pigs a 1-0 lead. The home run for Randolph was his third of the season.
Ryan Cordell added to the lead in the top of the third inning when he hit at two-run home run off Eickhoff to give Lehigh Valley a 3-0 lead. The home run for Cordell was his first of the season. Syracuse answered back in the bottom of the third inning when David Thompson hit a two-run home run off Cristopher Sanchez to cut the IronPigs lead to 3-2.
Syracuse took a 5-3 lead against Enyel De Los Santos (0-1) and the IronPigs in the bottom of the fifth inning when Thompson scored on a single hit by Sebastian Elizalde. Nick Meyer followed with a two-run single to score Elizalde and Quinn Brodey.
David Paulino pitched two scoreless innings while Mauricio Llovera added to his scoreless inning streak by pitching a scoreless eighth inning. Stephen Nogosek earned his second save of the season by striking out five batters over three innings of relief.
The IronPigs and Mets continue their six-game series on Friday night at NBT Bank Stadium. First pitch is scheduled for 6:35 p.m.
