St. Paul Saints News Release

ST. PAUL, MN - The fans came out to see Alex Kirilloff on a Major League rehab assignment and he didn't disappoint. He collected a pair of hits including a game tying two-run home run. He'll have to wait for the stats to count, however, as the Indianapolis Indians and St. Paul Saints were suspended in the bottom of the eighth inning with the game tied at two. The game will resume at 6 p.m. on Thursday with the Saints batting in the bottom of the eighth in a 2-2 game. The regularly scheduled game will start 30 minutes at the conclusion of the suspended game, or 7:05 p.m., whichever is later and will be a nine inning contest.

With the Saints trailing 2-0 and one out in the sixth Daniel Descalso walked. That brought up Kirilloff who crushed a 1-0 pitch over the right-center field wall tying the game at two. Kirilloff also collected the first hit of the night for the Saints, a line drive single to center in the first inning.

Chandler Shepherd got his first start of the season for the Saints and pitched well over 4.0 innings of work. The lone blip on his ledger came in the second when TJ Rivera doubled with two outs and Joe Hudson followed with an RBI single giving the Indians a 1-0 lead. Shepherd went 4.0 innings allowing one run on four hits while walking two and striking out six.

Juan Minaya took over in the fifth and gave up a lead off double to Ethan Paul and that was followed by a single from Chris Sharpe that put runners at the corners. Minaya settled down and got Cole Tucker to hit into a double play that allowed Paul to score, increasing the Indians lead to 2-0, but prevented any further damage.
