Men O\' War End Week with Three Straight Wins

Lexington, KY-The Men O' War concluded one of their busiest weeks of the season on Sunday with a three-game winning streak in tow. The week did not start well for Lexington. The Men lost games on Tuesday in Peoria and Wednesday in Cincinnati. The Men downed Cincy at Rupp Arena 3-2 in a shootout on Friday. The MOW then traveled to Toledo to face the Storm winning 4-1. The Men finished their week with a 6-4 win over Augusta at Rupp. This week the Men travel to Johnstown on Wednesday to take on the Chiefs. On Friday, the Men head to Dayton to face off with the Bombers before getting a well deserved break for the rest of the weekend.

Schedule for Week of February 3rd– February 9th

Monday, February 3rd: Off Day
Tuesday, February 4th: 10:00 a.m. Practice at Ice Center. Leave for Johnstown
Wednesday, February 5th: Game vs. Johnstown at Cambria Co.War Memorial 7:00p.m.
Thursday, February 6th: Dry Land Training.
Friday, February 7th: Game vs. Dayton at the Nutter Center 7:30 p.m.
Saturday, February 8th: Off
Sunday, February 9th: Off

Tuesday, January 28th -Lexington 2 at Peoria 6

The Lexington Men O' War started a stretch of five games in six days by getting spanked in Peoria 6-2. The hottest team in the ECHL scored four goals in 3:45 stretch to start the third period. Randy Rowe notched a natural hat trick for the Rivermen and goalie Alfie Michaud made 34 saves as Peoria improved to 10 straight wins at home. Marc-Andre Thinel and Kevin Knopp scored for Lexington.

Wednesday, January 29th-Lexington1 at Cincinnati 3

The Lexington Men O' War and the Cincinnati Cyclones squared off with third place on the line Wednesday night at the US Bank Arena with Cincinnati winning 3-1. Cyclone goaltender Gregg Naumenko made the difference in the game stuffing the Men O' War 45 times for the win. The Cyclones ended a six-game winless streak while expanding Lexington's losing streak to three games. With the loss, Lexington fell back to .500 at 20-20-5 for the first time since January 10th. Alex Mathieu scored the lone Lexington marker.

Friday, January 31st-Cincinnati 2 at Lexington 3 SO

The Men O' War defeated the Cincinnati Cyclones 3-2 in a shootout on Friday. Brett Draney and Van Burgess scored in regulation before Mark Smith, Alex Mathieu and Ryan Fultz scored in the shootout. Dan Murphy stopped three of five Cincinnati shooters to get the win. The win marked the third straight MOW victory that came by way of shootout.

Saturday, February 1st-Lexington 4 at Toledo 1

The Men O' War won for the second consecutive trip to Toledo. Joe Vandermeer scored with 4:43 left in the first to put the Men up 1-0. Mark Smith and Ryan Fultz scored less than a minute a part in the second to chase Toledo starter Doug Teskey. Ben Storey added a power play goal. The Men became only the second team to beat Toledo at home in regulation this season.

Sunday, February 2nd-Augusta 4 at Lexington 6

Lexington beat Augusta 6-4. Marc Andre-Thinel had one goal and three assists leading the way. Mike Sgroi and Kevin Knopp each had a goal and one assist. Mark Smith chipped in three assists.

UPCOMING GAMES......

The Men O' War face a light schedule this week. It will be a welcome relief for the banged-up team that has played five games in six nights. On Wednesday, the MOW head to Johnstown to face the Chiefs. Who own da Chiefs?

So far this season the Men O' War do. Lexington is 4-1 against Johnstown. The last time the teams met was January 11th in Johnstown when the Men won 5-4 in a shootout. On Friday, the Men visit Dayton. The Men have an excellent track record against the Bombers as well. The Men are 6-1-0 vs. the Bombers including a 4-3 shootout win during the teams' last meeting on January 4th in Dayton.

MOW Tracks

Dominic Periard and Jared Smyth each missed games this week ending their consecutive streaks of games played as the last members of the team to play in every games....Mike Smith is tied for first in the ECHL with a 2.49 GAA...Dan Murphy ranks fourth in shootout save percentage (.781) among ECHL goalies. Murphy is also tied for first in the Coast with four shootout wins...Ben Storey ranks third among ECHL D-men in shots with 147.
