Titans Look To \'Weather The Storm\' Before A Pair In Charlotte
February 3, 2003 - ECHL (ECHL)
Trenton Devils News Release
The Trenton Titans (24-16-7) enter the week on a season high five-game winning streak. During the streak the Titans have won four games against first place clubs (Pee Dee â twice, Atlantic City and Peoria). This week they try to extend their streak to six-games and in the process try to take down another first place club. On Wednesday night the Titans host the Toledo Storm (30-9-7) for the second and final meeting of the season. The Storm took the opening meeting 3-1 in Toledo on December 7th. On Friday and Saturday night the Titans travel to Cricket Arena to face the Charlotte Checkers (23-20-2). The Titans are 2-0-1 against the Checkers this season, including a 4-3 win at Cricket Arena. The line of Tyler Beechey (3 assists), Marco Charpentier (GW goal, 1 assist) and Matt Zultek (2 goals) combined for seven points in the game.
"Players of the Week â The âHEB' Line: Mike Hurley, Adam Edinger & Scott Bertoli":
The âHEB' Line of Mike Hurley, Adam Edinger and Scott Bertoli combined for 16 points (8 goals and 8 assists) last week in helping the Titans to a perfect 3-0 road trip. Hurley notched a goal in each of the three games and added two assists. Edinger continued his torrid, post-All-Star break pace (5 goals (2 GW, 1SH), 5 assists) with two goals and three assists, including the short-handed, game-winner in Saturday night's 3-1 win at Peoria. Bertoli also notched a goal in all three games, including the game-winner in last Wednesday night's 5-4 win at Atlantic City, and added three assists.
"Road Warriors":
The Titans have turned around their season and a good reason is a road record, which now stands a .500 (10-10-2). They began the season 2-9-0 on the road in their first 11 games, but are now 8-1-2 in their last 11. During the streak they have beaten seven teams that are .500 or better in Peoria, Columbia, South Carolina, Roanoke (2) and Charlotte.
Snee Jumps Into Titans Winning Streak:
Rookie goaltender Brandon Snee helped the Titans' extend their winning streak to a season high five games with back-to-back wins in his first two starts with the club last weekend. On Saturday night he stopped 24 shots in the 3-1 win at Peoria, snapping the Rivermen's ECHL and season high 11-game home winning streak. On Sunday night he stopped 27 shots, and four of four in the shootout in a 5-4 win at Dayton. The Rangers assigned Snee, a 5th round selection of the New York Rangers in the 2000 NHL Entry Draft, to the Titans on January 30th.
"Hurley Burley":
Right wing Mike Hurley has felt right at home since being acquired by the Titans on January 14th. He has notched at least one point in five of seven games, and has seven points (4 goals, 3 assists) overall and a +6 rating. Hurley currently has a three-game goal streak with one tally in each contest.
Titans In The Community:
Due to the short week the Titans will not have any player appearances, but will resume next Monday.
