
Mavericks Win Streak Snapped at Three by Mallards

Independence, MO (February 3, 2015) - The Missouri Mavericks fell 3-1 to the visiting Quad City Mallards on Tuesday night at Independence Events Center, putting an end to their 3-game winning streak.
Goaltender Mike Clemente made 27 saves through 60 minutes, taking his first loss for the Mavs in the last 3 contests. Andrew Courtney was credited with the lone goal for Missouri in the second frame.
The Mallards jumped on the board early when a lose puck found its way past Clemente only 1:04 into the period. Missouri evened the scoreboard 8:29 into the second period with a goal by Andrew Courtney after the Mavs were handed a 5-on-3 power play opportunity when Darren McMillan (high-sticking) and Todd Fiddler (hooking) were sent to the penalty box. Geoff Walker and Sebastien Thinel were credited with the assists on Courtney's goal.
The scoreboard remained tied at 1 until 2:20 into the third frame when Pearce Eviston took the lead for Quad City 2-1. The Mavs held the game within reach until Justin Fox expanded the Mallards lead at 13:41.
This is the first time the Mavs have fallen to the Mallards in regulation this season through seven (7) matchups.
The Missouri Mavericks play their next game at home on Friday, February 6th at Independence Events Center. Puck drop is set for 7:05pm (CST).
The first 1,500 fans in attendance to the game on Friday will receive a limited edition Richard Matvichuk bobble head! Doors open at 5:30pm (CST).
