
2015 CCM/ECHL All-Star Classic Presented by Visit Orlando a Success

PRINCETON, N.J. - The largest crowd to witness an ECHL All-Star Game in 15 years and the induction of the eighth class into the ECHL Hall of Fame highlighted the 2015 CCM / ECHL All-Star Classic presented by Visit Orlando .
The ECHL All-Stars defeated the Orlando Solar Bears 8-4 in the 21st ECHL All-Star Game on Jan. 21 in front of 9,288 fans at Amway Center in downtown Orlando. It was the largest crowd at an ECHL All-Star Game since 2000 and the third-largest crowd in All-Star Game history. Evansville IceMen forward Myles Bell was name the Most Valuable Player of the game scoring two goals, including the game-winner, and adding an assist
The MeiGray Group, which is the "Official Game-Worn Jersey Source of the ECHL," is auctioning the game-worn jerseys from the ECHL All-Stars and the Sher-Wood Hockey game-used pucks from the game online at auctions.nhl.com .
Showcasing some of the top prospects in the Premier "ËAA' Hockey League, the rosters had 12 rookies and 41 of the players were appearing in their first ECHL All-Star Game. Attended by representatives from both the National Hockey League and the American Hockey League, the game has produced more than 60 players who have gone on to play in the NHL including 46 since 2002 when the format was changed to feature younger players.
The week of events surrounding the All-Star Classic started with the OYHA MLK Tournament from Jan. 16-19, featuring over 750 players from across North America playing in over 100 games at the Amway Center, RDV Sportsplex Ice Den and the Ice Factory of Central Florida.
The eighth class of the ECHL Hall of Fame - Darren Colbourne, Louis Dumont, Scott Sabatino and Carl Scheer - was officially inducted during a luncheon presented by BFL CANADA with more than 350 guests in attendance at the DoubleTree by Hilton Orlando Downtown, the official host hotel of the 2015 CCM / ECHL All-Star Classic presented by Visit Orlando, which was sold out during the event. The featured speaker at the ceremony was Detroit Red Wings Senior Vice President Jim Devallano, a seven-time Stanley Cup champion as an NHL team executive. Following a video highlighting their accomplishments, each of the inductees was presented an etched crystal award and a Hall of Fame ring.
The game was televised live and on tape delay in over 85 million homes on Sun Sports, FOX Sports Florida, FOX Sports Detroit Plus, Sports Time Ohio, FOX Sports North, FOX Sports Wisconsin, FOX Sports Arizona Plus, FOX Sports West, Altitude Sports & Entertainment, Altitude 2, The Comcast Network, NHL Network - U.S. and Comcast Sportsnet California.
Fans across the globe were able to watch the game online on ECHL.TV, and the radio broadcast was available on 740 The Game in Orlando and worldwide on iHeartSolarBears.com .
Fans had the opportunity to have their pictures taken with the Stanley Cup and the Patrick J. Kelly Cup which were both on display during FanFest. The Stanley Cup arrived in Orlando on Monday, Jan. 19, and made 17 stops around the city over a two-day period. Additionally, Sutton Special Risk presented a special display from the Hockey Hall of Fame during the All-Star FanFest presented by Walgreens . The display included artifacts from the Hockey Hall of Fame, interactive games and the Conn Smythe Trophy, Hart Trophy and Turner Cup. Following FanFest, country artist Madeleine Smith performed a concert, presented by Wealth by Design and Coors Light . Over 5,000 fans attended FanFest in downtown Orlando.
