Idaho Adds Two Forwards to Roster
February 4, 2015 - ECHL (ECHL)
Idaho Steelheads News Release
Boise, ID (1/4/15) - Head Coach and Director of Hockey Operations Brad Ralph announced Thursday that the ECHL's Idaho Steelheads have added two forwards to its roster. Jesse Root has re-joined the Steelheads on assignment from Texas of the American Hockey League and Tom Serratore has agreed to contract with the team.
The 25-year-old Root appeared in eight games earlier this season, collecting ten points (four goals, six assists) and a plus-4 rating before being recalled to Texas. The AHL is the highest level of minor-league hockey in North America. With the Stars, Root appeared in 28 games, notching four goals and seven assists along the way. Root is a graduate of Yale University, where he was part of the 2013 National Championship team.
Serratore (pronounced sara-TORREY) is a 25-year-old rookie out of the University of Minnesota. So far this season, he has skated in 21 ECHL games with three different teams, totaling five assists and 12 penalty minutes along the way. He comes from a well-known hockey family - his father (Frank) is the long-time hockey coach at the Air Force Academy while his uncle (Tom) is the long-time head coach at Bemiji State University, both NCAA Division I programs.
Both Root (no. 9) and Serratore (no. 14) are expected to be in uniform Wednesday night when Idaho hosts Utah at CenturyLink Arena at 7:10 PM. Tickets are available by logging on to www.idahosteelheads.com .
Group outings at a Steelheads game are a great way to gather friends, colleagues, or co-workers for a fun night out in downtown Boise. Ticket prices are discounted and you can get a Pepsi, Double-R Ranch Hot Dog, and bag of chips with each ticket. Contact the Steelheads front office at 208.383.0080 or log on to www.idahosteelheads.com for more information.
