Idaho Steelheads News Release
Boise, ID (2/4/15) - The Idaho Steelheads, in conjunction with the ECHL, announced Wednesday that forward Jason Bast is the CCM/ECHL Rookie of the Month for the month of January.
It marks the second time this season that the 25-year-old Saskatchewan native has been named Rookie of the Month, having also received the honor in October. He becomes just the sixth player since the 1997-98 season, when the ECHL started the award, to receive multiple Rookie of the Month honors in the same season.
During January, Bast had 17 points (eight goals, nine assists) in 14 games for Idaho. The highlight was a career-best five-point night, including his first professional hat trick, in Alaska on January 23.
Bast currently leads the Steelheads (and all ECHL rookies) with 24 goals in 42 games. Tommy Grant led Idaho with 23 goals last season in 64 games. Bast's goal total also ranks third overall in the ECHL this season.
Idaho is at home Wednesday night, hosting the Utah Grizzlies. It's "Dollar Beer Night," presented by Bud Light, with small beers costing just one dollar through the end of the second period. Game time is 7:10 PM and tickets are available by calling the CenturyLink Arena box office at 208-331-8497.
Group outings at a Steelheads game are a great way to gather friends, colleagues, or co-workers for a fun night out in downtown Boise. Ticket prices are discounted and you can get a Pepsi, Double-R Ranch Hot Dog, and bag of chips with each ticket. Contact the Steelheads front office at 208.383.0080 or log on to www.idahosteelheads.com for more information.
