K-Wings Sign Mele

KALAMAZOO- Making a late addition to their roster prior to their 7:35 p.m. face-off against the Cincinnati Cyclones, the Kalamazoo Wings have signed forward Steve Mele (me-LEE).

Mele signs with the K-Wings as a free-agent after starting the season in the ECHL with the Tulsa Oilers, where he netted 12 points (6 goals, 6 assists) in 31 goals.

Last season, Mele started the year in the SPHL with the Columbus Cottonmouths. Mele finished last season in the ECHL splitting time with Tulsa, South Carolina Stingrays, Utah Grizzlies.

The Bronx, New York, native dressed in nine ECHL contests during the 2012-13 season with the Greenville Road Warriors netting four points (two goals, two assists) after attending American International College for four seasons. With the Yellow Jackets, Mele recorded 20 goals and 30 assists for 50 points in 130 games.

Kalamazoo will commence the week on the road tonight, Wednesday, February 4th with a 7:35 p.m. encounter against the Cincinnati Cyclones.

The K-Wings will play their lone home game this Friday, February 6th for a 7:30 p.m. face-off versus the Fort Wayne Komets on U.S.A Curling Nationals Night. This Friday will also be a 3, 2, 1 Countdown to Fun! with $3 beer, $2 Pepsi Products and $1 hot dogs featuring Winter Sausage hot dogs and Harding's Friendly Markets buns.

Kalamazoo is not only a hockey town, but it also loves curling. The K-Wings will get everyone prepped for the 2015 U.S.A. Curling Nationals, which will be coming to Wings Stadium February 14th-21st, with a night dedicated to the sport this Friday.

Following Friday's home game, the K-Wings will begin a five-game road swing. The first two games of the trip will occur at the end of his week. Kalamazoo will travel to Fort Wayne on Saturday, February 7th and to Indy this Sunday, February 8th.
