Losing Streak Continues, Snappers Fall 3-1

The Beloit Snappers couldn't produce any offense to complement a solid pitching performance and lost their seventh-straight game, 3-1 to Quad Cities Tuesday night.

Junior Mendez went seven innings for the Snappers (7 IP, 4H, 1ER), but a pair of River Bandit solo shot home runs and a defensive error proved to be the difference in the ballgame.

Michael Feliz pitched seven innings (7IP, 4H, 0ER) for Quad Cities as he bounced back from a season-worst performance in his last outing (3.1 IP, 7H, 6ER).

Matt Chapman was the only bright spot offensively for Beloit, as he went 2-for-4 with two doubles and an RBI.

The River Bandits struck first in the fifth inning behind a solo shot home run from Brian Holberton to right center field. The home run was Holberton's 6th of the season.

Quad Cities tacked on another in the sixth inning as James Ramsay crossed home plate on a passed ball past catcher Jose Chavez. Ramsay singled to lead off the inning before advancing to second and third base on groundouts.

The Snappers got on the board in the bottom of the frame with an RBI-double from Chapman. The double was Chapman's second of the evening and sent B.J. Boyd home from first base to cut the deficit to 2-1.

The River Bandits added an insurance run in the ninth inning, as Brett Phillips led off the frame with a solo shot home run to give Quad Cities its final 3-1 lead.

Both teams left four runners on base on the night and were 0-for-3 with runners in scoring position.

The Snappers and River Bandits return to action Wednesday night at 7:00 p.m. for the second game of their series.
