Frazier Homers and Captains Win 4-2

Lake County Captains News Release


(Eastlake, OH)- Clint Frazier lined his sixth homerun of the season over the right field wall and the Captains went on to beat Bowling Green 4-2. Frazier now has 25 RBI's on the season. The homer for Frazier was just his second at Classic Park and is a new career-high. The Captains win by the Captains will set up a rubber game on Thursday night at Classic Park.

Lake County scored a run in the bottom of the third inning to open the scoring. Richard Stock tripled to right field and came home to score on an RBI single from Jorge Martinez and the score was 1-0 Lake County. Bowling Green scored a run to tie the game in the top of the fourth inning. Armando Araiza grounded out but knocked in a run and the score was evened at 1-1.

Lake County added two runs in the bottom of the fifth inning to take the lead. Torsten Boss walked, and Dorssys Paulino singled. With runners on first and second base, Richard Stock singled both runners to scoring position. A Double play plated one run and moved Paulino to third. The score was 2-1. Ivan Castillo tripled to left field and Paulino scored to extend the Captains lead to 3-1. Bowling Green scored a run in the top of the sixth inning on a wild pitch to make the score 3-2.

RHP Mitch Brown (2-6) started the game for Lake County and earned the win. Brown pitched six innings, and allowed three hits two runs, one earned, he did not walk a batter and he struck out seven. Mitch tossed two wild pitches and hit one batter. Justin Brantley pitched two shutout innings and allowed one hit, and one strikeout. Trevor Frank pitched the ninth inning and retired the side to record his sixth save of the season.

RHP Ryne Stanek (3-4) started for the Hot Rods and took the loss. Stanek pitched six innings and allowed four hits, four earned runs, one walk a career high 12 strikeouts and allowed the homer to Frazier. Colton Revis pitched the final two innings for Bowling Green and allowed one hit and struck out four.

The Captains will conclude a three game home series on Thursday Night vs. Bowling Green. The Captains will send RHP Jordan Milbrath (2-8 3.45) to the mound to start the ballgame. The Hot Rods will counter with LHP Bruedlin Sureo (0-1, 1.29). First Pitch is at 7:00 PM from Classic Park in Eastlake, Ohio.

The homestand concludes as the Captains present a pre- Independence Day Fireworks extravaganza on Thursday with the fireworks set to a patriotic soundtrack.

Thursday is another Thirsty Thursday, presented by Labatt Blue and ESPN 850 WKNR and features a .25-cent Labatt Blue Happy Hour from 6 PM until game time at 7 PM, and half-price domestic draft beer and fountain soda specials until 9 PM.
