
Hot Rods Cruise to 10-2 Win

(Eastlake, OH)- Armando Araiza smashed his sixth homerun of the season over the fence in left center field and the Bowling Green went on to win by a final of 10-2. Araiza now has three of his six homers on the year against the Captains. The season series between the Captains and Hot Rods is tied at five games a piece.
Juniel Querecuto hit a solo homerun to begin the ballgame and was quickly followed by James Harris who also homered. The back-to-back homers gave the Hot Rods the early 2-0 lead. Bowling Green added a run in the second inning. Alexander Simon doubled and eventually scored on an error and the score was 3-0 Bowling Green.
The Hot Rods added two more runs in the top of the third inning. Bowling Green used four singles in the inning including an RBI single from Sean Smedley. It was Smedley's first hit on the season. The score was 5-0 Bowling Green. BG added two more in the fifth inning and led 7-0. Torsten Boss hit his second homer on the season a solo shot to make the score 7-1 after five innings.
Claudio Bautista tripled for the Captains in the eighth and he scored on a sacrifice fly by Paul Hendrix and the score was 10-2. That was the final.
LHP Luis Lugo (5-7) started the game for Lake County and took the loss. Lugo pitched four and two thirds innings and allowed 12 hits, seven runs, six of which were earned, he walked one and fanned eight. Alexis Paredes pitched two and one third innings allowing three hits and three earned runs two walks and five strikeouts. Paredes allowed one homerun. Jimmy Stokes pitched one scoreless inning and walked one and struck out one. Ben Heller pitched one inning and fanned three.
RHP Jake Faria (4-4) started for the Hot Rods and earned the win. Faria pitched five innings and allowed one earned run on four hits. He walked one and struck out four. The Hot Rod Bullpen used two pitchers. The pen combined to pitch five innings and allowed two hits, one earned run they walked one and fanned five.
The Captains will continue a three game home series on Wednesday Night vs. Bowling Green. The Captains will send RHP Mitch Brown (1-6, 3.77) to the mound to start the ballgame. The Hot Rods will counter with RHP Ryne Stanek (3-3, 3.26). First Pitch is at 7:00 PM from Classic Park in Eastlake, Ohio.
Wednesday is the nationally-acclaimed Mark Emmert Fan Appreciation Night. Captains fans will spend the night as if they were college student-athletes, including receiving permission to move from their seat location designated by their ticket, subject to a one inning waiting period, if they desire a different view.
Prizes will be handed out during the game, including "one and done" player basketball cards and college sports video games, while others in attendance will receive copies of the publication "Undue Process - The NCAA's Injustice For All".
There may even be a Booster Handshake to fans who wear their "generic" college jersey that may or may not correspond to a famous athlete.
