LOUISVILLE, KY - Ben Lively worked six scoreless innings as Louisville topped the Omaha Storm Chasers by a score of 6-1 on Tuesday night at Louisville Slugger Field.

Ben Lively (1-3, 4.54) proved dominant in his first quality start of the season, tossing six innings of scoreless ball and allowing just three hits. He also whiffed 11 Storm Chasers, while walking only two, and needing only 90 pitches to do so.

Great pitching from both clubs led to no score through the first four innings, with both teams combining to tally just four hits through the first four frames.

Louisville loaded the bases in the bottom half of the fifth inning with two outs, and Cristian Santana worked a walk to plate the first run of the ball game. Jake Bauers and Juniel Querecuto followed up with an RBI single and a two-RBI double, respectively, pushing the Bats' lead to 4-0 at the end of the fifth. Querecuto would finish the night with three hits.

The Bats also had good work from their bullpen, with Kyle Dowdy, Buck Farmer, and Fernando Cruz each working an inning, and allowing only one combined run and two combined hits.

Reds rehabber Jose Barrero added on in the seventh with a solo shot, sending a hanging changeup over the left-center wall onto the grassy berm. Fellow rehabber Jake Fraley followed suit, going back-to-back with the shortstop and giving the Bats a 6-0 advantage.

Omaha would tally their first run of the game in the eighth and would get two baserunners to start the ninth, but Fernando Cruz would work out of the no-out jam to finish off Omaha.

Game two of the six-game series is scheduled for 11:05 a.m. Wednesday morning at Louisville Slugger Field. Righty Randy Wynne (1-5, 4.29) will take the hill for Louisville while right-hander Jackson Kowar (2-3, 7.18) gets the start for Omaha.
