Second Homer of the Year from Govern Not Enough at Louisville

LOUISVILLE, Ky. - The Louisville Bats (15-27) take game one of the series 6-1 over the Omaha Storm Chasers (21-21).

Omaha had a baserunner in each of the first two innings, using a walk from LF Nick Pratto in the first and a single from C Freddy Fermin in the second. Both runners would end up stranded as the score remained 0-0 with both teams leaving a pair of runners on base in the first two innings.

RHP Carlos Hernández (Loss, 0-1) retired the first batter in each of the first four innings and worked around a few Louisville baserunners in the opening frames, but in the fifth, the Bats used a leadoff single and three walks to put Louisville in front. In all, Louisville put up four runs in the frame to take a 4-0 lead.

In the sixth, SS Iván Castillo started the inning with a double into centerfield but was left stranded after three consecutive strikeouts.

The Storm Chasers put up a run in the eighth by way of a DH Jimmy Govern solo home run, his second of the season.

When it was all said and done, Omaha was outhit 9-5 in the game. Hernández would go 4.2 innings, allowing four earned runs on three hits and five walks with four strikeouts.

The Storm Chasers face off against the Louisville Bats in game two tomorrow. First pitch for Wednesday's matinee is scheduled for 10:05 a.m. CT from Louisville Slugger Field with coverage beginning at 9:45 p.m. with the Sarpy County Tourism Pregame Show on 1180 The Zone. After the series with Louisville, Omaha will return to Werner Park for a series with Indianapolis.
