Leyba's Five RBIs Send Aces to Victory

May 22, 2019 - Pacific Coast League (PCL1)
Reno Aces News Release

Reno, Nevada - A day after Reno scored 25 runs in a game, they put up double-digit runs yet again in a 10-7 victory over El Paso. The win is the first in eight tries against the Chihuahuas this season. The Aces trailed 5-4 after five in this one thanks to homers from Luis Urias and Esteban Quiroz in the bottom half of that inning. However, Domingo Leyba played hero tying up the game on an RBI-single in the seventh.

The story in the one really picks up in the eighth inning when the Aces put together a five-run 2-out rally. After Tyler Heineman singled and Juniel Querecuto reached on an error with 2-out and nobody on, Wyatt Mathisen put the Aces ahead on a pinch-hit RBI-single scoring Heineman. After Tim Locastro was hit by a pitch to load the bases, Domingo Leyba cleared the bases on an RBI-double to right. PCL RBI leader Kevin Cron immediately followed it up with a single of his own scoring Leyba recording his 62nd RBI on the year. Lefty Marc Rzepczynski got his first win of the season throwing a 1.1 scoreless innings in relief. Get your coffee ready for some day baseball tomorrow with first pitch slated for 10:05 a.m. PT and Taylor Widener on the hill as the Aces look for their third straight win.
