
Lerg Saves the Day in a 3-1 Walleye Win

(Reading, PA) - Jeff Lerg posted a season high 48 saves as the Walleye took a 3-1 win in Reading Friday night in Reading. Toledo has an overall record of 19-10-1-3 and 12-6-1-2 on the road.
Despite Reading out shooting Toledo 14-6, the Walleye struck first as A.J. Jenks (10th) buried a one-timer off of a Shane Berschbach pass at 13:12 of the first period. Toledo carried a 1-0 lead into the first intermission.
The second period saw more of the same as goaltender Jeff Lerg turned aside 21 second period shots from Reading. Toledo collected the lone goal as Tyler Sikura (8th) beat Royals goaltender Martin Ouellette with a backhand shot at 19:01 of the second period.
With the Walleye leading 2-0 heading to the third period, the Royals cut into the lead with a rebound goal at 6:37. Shane Berschbach (8th) sent home an empty net goal at 18:33 to give the Walleye the 3-1 win.
Walleye Notes: Goaltender Jeff Lerg stopped a season high 48 of 49 shots and has a record of 14-4-0-2 on the season. The 49 shots from Reading is a season high in shots allowed by the Walleye breaking the previous high of 40 allowed twice this year. The two teams conclude the season series tomorrow night in Reading. Walleye Transaction: Defenseman Scott Czarnowczan was recalled by the Grand Rapids Griffins of the AHL. In 20 games played this year in Toledo, the 24 year old defenseman has scored twice with six assists and 20 penalty minutes.
