Wichita Thunder News Release

Wichita, KS - For the fourth-straight game between the Thunder and the Oilers, regulation time was not enough as Tulsa knocked off Wichita 2-1 in a shootout on Friday night at INTRUST Bank Arena. Brady Ramsay potted the only shootout marker to help the Oilers claim the extra point. Wichita falls to 3-2-0-3 in the StoneWolf Casino Cup Series.

Landon Oslanski netted his fifth goal of the season in the losing effort.

Tulsa had the shot advantage in the first, firing 12 on David Shantz while Matt Grogan saw only three. The Oilers took a 1-0 lead halfway through the frame on a goal from Nathan Lutz, who fired a shot off a face-off for his second of the year.

In the second, Wichita tied it at one on the power play halfway through as Oslanksi got to a loose puck and beat Grogan. Most of the period was dominated by special teams, with eight total penalties being taken.

The Thunder had two late power plays in the third, but the Oilers got into shooting lanes and didn't allow much to get through to Grogan. 60 minutes wasn't enough and the game headed into overtime.

Wichita dominated the overtime period, outshooting the Oilers 4-0 and carried most of the play. Grogan held the fort and the five minute extra session expired without a winner.

Andy Huff, Kale Kerbashian and Ian Lowe were unsuccessful against Grogan. Ramsay beat Shantz at the bottom of round one, which held up as the game-winner.

The two teams have played into a shootout in three-straight contests. In fact, tonight's match-up was the sixth one-goal game in the season-series. Kerbashian netted an assist in his first game in a Thunder uniform. Shantz claimed the first star despite suffering the loss, stopping 31 of 32 shots. Grogan earned his first win of the season, stopping 24 of 25 shots he faced.

Wichita went 1-for-6 on the power play. Tulsa was 0-for-5 on the man advantage.

The Thunder travels to Tulsa on Saturday night to close out the home-and-home series starting at 7:05 p.m.

Individual tickets for all games are on sale now. Tickets can be purchased at the INTRUST Arena Box office, by calling 855-755-SEAT or go online at www.selectaseat.com.
