MAGNIFYING THE MATCHUP
This weekend the Jackals return home to face the East Division leading Manchester Monarchs in a pivotal two-game set. The Jackals sit three points behind the Monarchs in the division standings. These two teams will be meeting for the fourth and fifth of 11 matchups this season, and the third and fourth of six at First Arena. In the previous meeting, C.J. Motte and Doug Carr put on a goaltending clinic as they combined for 80 saves in regulation and overtime sending the game to a shootout tied 1-1. Kevin Clare scored the lone goal in the skills competition to propel the Jackals to a 2-1 win. Allan McPherson and Darik Angeli traded power-play goals in the first period. That was the first meeting this season in which the home team won. In the previous two meetings, the Jackals defeated Manchester 2-1 on November 18th on Education Day and the Monarchs won 4-2 on Halloween.
