
Knights Drop Wednesday's Game to Sounds 8-1

(NASHVILLE, TN) - The Charlotte Knights fell to the Nashville Sounds by a score of 8-1 on Wednesday night in game two of the six-game series from First Horizon Park in Nashville, TN. The Knights have dropped the first two games of the series against the Sounds.
Catcher Nick Ciuffo had a solid day both at the plate and behind it. The Charlotte backstop singled home Charlotte's lone run in the fifth inning and later threw out a Brice Turang attempting to steal third base in the sixth inning.
Charlotte left fielder Blake Rutherford continued his torrid stretch at the plate. Rutherford extended his hit streak to four consecutive games with another two-hit day. Over his last four games, Rutherford is hitting .667 (10-for-15) with six runs scored, two doubles, two home runs and six RBIs.
RHP Johan Dominguez (0-1, 2.35) started the game and was saddled with his first loss of the season. Dominguez allowed one run on two hits over three innings. LHP Kyle Kubat came on in relief of Dominguez and was charged with five runs on five hits over just one inning. All five runs came in the bottom of the fourth inning. Corey Ray tripled home two runs in the fourth against Kubat.
Nashville RHP Jason Alexander (3-0, 2.40) allowed one run over five innings to earn the win.
The Knights will continue the six-game series against the Nashville Sounds on Thursday night with first pitch on tap for 7:35 p.m. ET. All games in the series will air live on 730 The Game ESPN Charlotte and www.CharlotteKnights.com.
