Charlotte Knights News Release
(NORFOLK, VA) - The Charlotte Knights dropped game five of the seven-game series against the Norfolk Tides by a score of 4-0 from Harbor Park in Norfolk, VA on Friday night. Despite the loss, the Knights lead the series, three games to two.
Norfolk second baseman Pat Valaika hit a two-run home run in the second inning to put his team up early by a score of 2-0. The Tides added two more runs in the bottom of the fifth inning to make it a 4-0 lead at that point. All four runs of the game were scored off Charlotte starter Alex McRae (2-7, 5.57), who was saddled with the loss. McRae was charged with four runs on five hits over four innings.
For the second consecutive night, the Charlotte bullpen held the Tides scoreless. A total of four relievers combined to shut down Norfolk. Chicago White Sox RHP Evan Marshall struck-out two batters over a scoreless inning in his fourth rehab stint with the Knights this season. Marshall now has five strikeouts over four scoreless innings this year with the Knights. He is currently on Chicago's 60-day Injured List.
In all, the Knights managed just three hits on the night. Zach Remillard, Mikie Mahtook and Marco Hernández all had one hit apiece.
