LOS ANGELES, CA - The Los Angeles Kings, the parent club of the Manchester Monarchs, have activated defenseman Randy Jones from the injured reserve list and have assigned defenseman Alec Martinez to the Monarchs, Kings President/General Manager Dean Lombardi announced today. Jones is expected to play tonight at STAPLES Center when the Kings host St. Louis at 10:30 p.m. (EST).
Jones, 28, suffered an upper body injury on December 15 at Edmonton and has missed the club's last eight games. The 6-foot-2, 200-pound native of Quispamsis, New Brunswick, has also played in six games this season with the Adirondack Phantoms (AHL), recording one point (an assist) and six penalty minutes.
Martinez, 22, has played in three games with the Kings this season, his first in the NHL, and has zero points and zero penalty minutes. The 6-foot-1, 208-pound native of Rochester Hills, Michigan, has also played in 19 games with the Monarchs this season, recording eight points (3-5=8) and six penalty minutes.
