Hamilton, ON - The Hamilton Bulldogs defeated the Grand Rapids Griffins 5-2 on Saturday night in front of 3,110 fans at Copps Coliseum. Brock Trotter recorded the hat-trick and Mike Glumac had two goals in the victory.

Following a scoreless first period, the Bulldogs opened the game's scoring at 1:43 of the second stanza. Ben Maxwell fired a shot on net that was saved by Grand Rapids starting goaltender Jordan Pearce. Pearce stopped a second shot from Glumac but could not stop the third shot as Trotter grabbed the loose rebound and slid the puck past the Griffins' goaltender. Trotter added his second goal of the period at 7:16 while on the power play. David Desharnais received the puck from Yannick Weber while stationed at the right side of the net. Desharnais dished a cross-crease pass to Trotter, who waited patiently before sending a shot over a sprawled Pearce. Hamilton added its third goal at 16:05. Shawn Belle sent a pass to Andre Benoit, who blasted a shot from the point. While positioned in front of the net, Glumac tipped the shot between the pads of Pearce.

Glumac added his second goal at 2:31 of the final frame. Frederic St. Denis fired a shot on net that was saved by Pearce but the goaltender could not contain the rebound. Glumac grabbed the loose rebound before stuffing the puck underneath Pearce and over the goal line.

Grand Rapids got on the score board at 6:52 of the third period. Patrick Rissmiller fed a pass to Mattias Ritola, who skated in on Hamilton starting goaltender Cedrick Desjardins before faking a shot that put Desjardins out of position. Ritola skated around the goaltender before depositing the puck in the back of the net. The Griffins cut the lead to two at 9:15. Jamie Tardif intercepted a failed clearing attempt by Desjardins, which placed the goaltender behind the net and out of position. Tardif proceeded to fire the puck into the open net.

Trotter secured the win for Hamilton at 19:58 of the final frame. With the net empty, Glumac fired a shot from his own end that just missed the net. Trotter raced down the ice to grab the loose puck and fire it into the net for his hat-trick goal.
